About

IMG_0485It’s been over a year since I closed Platypus Hair Salon to work on textiles and self-fund production of my designs.  A large part of that is completed enough that I can do some hair and still work on textiles.  I hope you’ll come see me at Orbit Salon on E. Cesar Chavez near Comal.  Scheduling is done online.  I’m available Monday and Tuesday.  Prices are $50 for guys, $60 for ladies.  Includes a relaxing oil treatment and shampoo, and basic styling.  The atmosphere is pretty energetic

I was inspired to make ShelfBag when I learned of the impending ban on retailers issuing plastic bags.  I started working on the design in 2013.  My mother, a master sewer and quilter, taught me how to sew.  She gave me the 1978 Bernina sewing machine that she used to make clothes and other things for my four siblings and I when we were kids.  I have other sewing machines, but the Bernina is my favorite.

While exploring this new world of textiles I discovered that I really like working with leather.  I’ve made small bags.  Big bags.  Belt bags.  Purses.  Briefcases.  Utility belts that are modular and sparkle.  The website showcasing these items is BagManBags.com

So, now I live in a quiet wooded area with lots of wildlife.  I have a studio to work on designs and land to run around on.  It’s an easy drive to Austin, which is still pretty much home base.

This website will be a catch-all for what I’m up to.  Check back to see what projects I’m working on or things you might otherwise see on my personal and professional social media outlets.
